A Teeth Whitening Experience
By Pippa Rifka

There's been loads of different types of teeth whitening available for years – but La Retraite Surgeries are offering the latest form called 'Zoom!'.

It works using a combination of whitening gel and Ultra Violet light to lighten the teeth from the inside. Now that may sound a bit dubious, but I've been assured it's the safest method around with no noted dangers or any major side effects.

First of all I will say there's no pain involved in the entire process. The worst part for me was having my impressions taken – when they put glue in your mouth!

The actual treatment takes around an hour and at La Retraite Surgeries you get extra creature comforts, a back massager fitted to the chair and a plasma TV to keep you entertained.

I won't lie it's not without it's downsides, I found the mouthpiece you have to wear uncomfortable and afterwards you can't drink any tea, coffee or red wine for a week. Some patients may suffer some sensitivity afterwards, but I didn't have any at all.

The only follow up care required is to wear 'trays' which you put the whitening gel into. These help boost the whiteness of your teeth even more and is apparently the most vital stage of the treatment. You only have to wear them for half an hour twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening for three weeks. I found them simple to use and don't worry you can still talk with them in.

The final result is definitely noticeable and the best bit is I can still drink tea and not have stained teeth.
